The Ryerson Film Program Simulator is the most accurate simulation of the coveted, “Ivy League” Ryerson Film Program yet. The first screen in the App provides you with three options: “Complete a Lecture”, “Complete an Assignment” and “Progress Report”. These options encompass every aspect of the Ryerson Film Program. The Lecture window functions as a way to accurately simulate an actual Ryerson University Film Program lecture. It even detects your location, requiring that you locate yourself on campus before allowing you to begin tracking your time — just like in real life. Similarly, the app demands nothing else beside geographic location to verify that you are learning. Once your lecture is over, you can hold down the “Finish Learning” button to return to the home screen. The tracked time is stored online using TinyWebDB. The Assignment window allows students to learn how to make films, just as one would in the Ryerson Film Program. Touching the “Record Movie” button opens an instance of the device’s camcorder, allowing you to record a wonderful student short film. Once you are done making your masterpiece, you can choose to hand in your film, after which the app creates generates a grade using an algorithm that replicates precisely the marking methods of Ryerson film professors. The grade, along with the number of instances which you’ve completed an assignment, are stored using TinyWebDB. Finally, the Progress Report tabulates all of the statistics stored on TinyWebDB. Once you’ve completed 1440 hours of lecture, 24 assignments and paid your tuition fee, the app will prompt you for your name and generate a degree.
