Net Whacker is both a networking toolbox and a server, URL monitoring tool. Basically this tool allows you to quickly setup a server testing schedule to perform tests on a server or URL and get notifications based on your preset test criteria. There is a widget to show the latest result of your tests. Common uses will be to get alerts when - A server is uncontactable or has passed a timeout threshold via Ping - A web page is unreachable or is not showing a preditable string via HTTP GET - A URL content (can be HTML, image or any binary content) has changed - A URL content has taken too long to load - A site you are interested in has refreshed its content - Connection cannot be established to a server TCP port Net Whacker contains the following network tools - Ping - TCP Socket connectivity - HTTP Head - HTTP GET - Whois - DNS Lookup - Device Network Information What can you do with this tool ? 1) Whois - Perform quick lookups on who owns a domain name - Allows entry of custom whois servers 2) DNS Lookup - Perform query to DNS for A, AAAA, CNAME, NS, MX, TXT, SOA records for a domain name 3) Scheduled server testing - Perform scheduled testing with Ping, TCP Sockets, HTTP HEAD, HTTP GET - Configure test run duration (short term to indefinite) - Configure how often test should run (every minute, every hour, every 7 days etc) - Configure test criteria such as timeout threshold and string to match for HTTP GET - Set visual or sound alerts when test criteria is not met 4) URL monitoring - Perform scheduled monitoring on a URL - Alerts when a URL content has changed.
